TROPICAL TRAVEL STYLE TIPS

Headed somewhere warm this winter? Whether it's a long weekend escape or a full-on tropical reset, packing for sunshine while it's cold back home can feel surprisingly tricky. The key is choosing pieces that stay cool, travel well, and look just as good poolside as they do at dinner. Here are a few easy style tips for women and men to help you pack smarter and feel great wherever the sun take you.

WOMEN
  1. Prioritize breathable fabrics - Choose clothing in linen, rayon, cotton, or modal blends for warm and humid climates. These fabrics allow airflow and help regulate body temperature so you stay comfortable from day to night. Linen is a perennial resort classic because it’s lightweight and moisture-wicking, ideal for tropical days exploring or lounging by the beach.
  2. Build a capsule wardrobe - Pack versatile pieces that mix and match easily. A small set of lightweight shirts, flowy dresses or sarongs, and neutral bottoms will let you create multiple outfits without overpacking. This keeps travel simple but stylish.
  3. Go for lightweight dresses & cover-ups - Midi or maxi dresses in natural fabrics are both elegant and cooling. Simple one-piece outfits like shirt dresses can transition from daytime sightseeing to dinner with minimal fuss. Adding a sarong or linen overshirt adds dimension without much bulk.
  4. Play with prints and colors - Tropical destinations are a great place to embrace color. Pastel hues, earth tones, oceanic blues, and vibrant prints help capture the vacation vibe without feeling overdone. You can balance bold prints with solid neutrals for a polished look.
MEN
  1. Consider classic resort shirts - Traditional tropical shirts like the guayabera offer style and comfort. These shirts are designed for warm climates and pair well with tailored shorts or linen trousers for a resort dinner or island stroll.
  2. Pants should be minimal and neutral - Loose-cut chinos or linen trousers in shades like beige, navy, or olive are versatile and allow you to pack less. They pair effortlessly with light shirts and T-shirts during the day, and breathable button downs at night. They also match just as well with shirts in neutral tone as well as shirts with lots of color.
  3. Add smart footwear that breathes - Invest in some leather sandals, loafers, mesh sneakers/shoes that allow your feet to stay cool without sacrificing polish. We love and always recommend Rivieras, not just because you can wear them anywhere (night and day, high and low, beach and bar), but also because they are very compact and easy to pack.
  4. Pack an easy layer - Even in tropical locations, breezy evenings or open-air restaurants can be slightly cool. A lightweight linen jacket, soft overshirt, or even a light cashmere give you a finishing layer that remains breathable while adding style depth.
