The Beach Read - Vol.IX - Superbowl Edition
Welcome to a special edition of The Beach Read by Bask. For Volume IX (that's Roman Numeral for 9), we're Super Bowl themed. We're talking dips and snacks, face masks (not always a 15 yard penalty!), and much, much more. Enjoy!

Fun Fact: Did you know that the number one sick day in America is the day after the Super Bowl?

Super Bowl Recipies

Need some inspo for your Super Bowl party snacks? One of the best parts of the Super Bowl is the food, so we've collected some recipes from around the web to help you score a tastebud touchdown (I hate that I wrote that).
Dips
  • Smoked Cajun queso - This queso looks as good as it tastes.
  • Meat lover pizza dip - Tastes just like pizza and takes half the time with the convenience of a dip. We'd highly recommend pairing this with some garlic bread.
  • Slow cooker chicken enchilada dip - The addition of rotisserie chicken makes this super quick and easy. And I'll be making it myself on Sunday.
Apps & Sandwiches
  • Kirk's chicken wings -
    • My friend Kirk makes these epic chicken wings. They require a day of marinating and an egregious amount of salt, but they're incredible. And have a really cool background story (link above).
    • Recipe: 1 cup canola/olive oil, 2 cups apple cider vinegar, 10 teaspoons salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, 3 teaspoons poultry seasoning, 2 eggs; marinate overnight in the refrigerator; cook on grill or oven until crispy.
  • The MSR Mexican chicken sandwich - This chicken is marinated in pickled jalapeños, and packed with flavor.
  • Sriracha buffalo cauliflower bites - Looking for a healthier or vegetarian option this year? We recommend these tasty bites by Half Baked Harvest.
  • PK Jalepeño Popper Toasted pinwheel sandwiches - We think the name says it all. These are cheezy, gooey and crispy on the outside (a.k.a. amazing).
  • 3 ingredient cheesy Duff pizza pretzels -  Salty, cheezy, pizza, pretzels? What's not to love about that combo?
Desserts
  • Kemp's Oreo Tiramisu - Light, fluffy and tastes like your favorite sandwich cookie you ate too many of last night (or not enough if you're a glass half full type).
  • Brownie batter dip - If you see me licking this bowl, no you didn't. Who knew you could combine Cool Whip, brownie batter, and cream cheese to make this decadent dip.

  • After exploring the world of cleansers for years, I now have my go to.
  • The Malliouhana Resort in Anguilla is now one of my favorite hotels - chic, quiet, beautiful accommodations, and service that goes above and beyond.
  • I'm not finished yet, but am really loving Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult. It's a wonderfully written, very engaging mystery, and each chapter is written from a different character's perspective.

  • No link, but next time you toast bread, I implore you to rub raw garlic on it. Life changing. You'll do it for every sandwich, avocado toast, you name it.
  • I have this shirt from Mavrans, but do I need the jacket?
  • I'm not an order meat in the mail guy. Until I found Porter Road. The Dray-aged All Beef Hot Dogs 😋.
  • I watched Cocaine Cowboys based on the recommendation of Baskers Anna H. and Ryan W. It's a captivating documentary about the history of Miami's drug trade from the 70s to the late 80s featuring interviews from the primary participants. It's well worth a watch, and is included free on Prime Video for 12 more days.
